This presentation will review common questions and answers about tile roofing. Then participants will have the opportunity to ask their own questions about tile roofing projects that have challenged them, or to better understand the why’s of roofing tile practices, requirements, and codes.

About Rick Olson
Rick Olson has been actively involved in many aspects of the building industry since 1978. As a consultant, he provides clients with insight based on 30 plus years of senior management leadership skills that include corporate management, production, product design, operational efficiencies and technical support. He has been the co-owner of a small manufacturing company and served 3 years with Marley Roof Tile PLC, a large international manufacturer of tile from the UK, serving 2 years as its President. In 1991 he formed RKO & Associates LLC and was retained to take the helm of the North America trade association for the tile roofing industry, now known as the Tile Roofing Industry Alliance, for which he had been active in since 1979. Rick has provided oversight management and technical support for the Tile Roofing Industry’s trade association, since 1991, as President & Technical Director.

Rick acts as the technical liaison for the industry with such code bodies as the International Code Council (ICC); Canadian Standards Association; Florida Building Code; Metro Dade County and Broward County; California Energy Commission; Cool Roof Rating Council; ASHRAE; RESNET; TDI; regional roofing contractor associations, and for numerous large cities and counties. He also serves as Chairman of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) C15.06 on roof tiles and is active in ASTM C13, C15, C17, C27 and D.08
