TRI Alliance is dedicated to growing the tile roofing market by building awareness of tile’s benefits, supplying technical expertise, and providing training and certification for code-approved tile roof installation.

In the United States, tile roofing is a $2.85-billion industry, and it continues to grow.

For over a half century, TRI Alliance has been the industry’s voice for code development, testing and installation best practices:

  • Collaborated with the Committee for Firesafe Dwellings on legislation to ban combustible roofing materials in California.
  • Worked with the University of Southern California to determine that tile roofs can withstand forces two to three times those generated by the Northridge Earthquake.

View Seismic Report

  • Guided successful efforts to revise codes for high-speed winds and worked with local building officials to upgrade installation standards following Hurricane Andrew.
  • Worked with the American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) to develop standardized testing methods for roof tile

Our members are the driving force behind progress. Through TRI Alliance, members, contractors, manufacturers and consultants share best practices as we continue to evolve the tile roof industry.

Mission
  • Promote greater awareness of concrete and clay tile as the preferred roofing material and its suitability for all roofing installations.
  • Showcase tile’s high curb appeal and ability to complement and enhance any architectural style.
  • Educate consumers, architects, builders and code officials about tile’s resistance to fire, wind, ice, hail and seismic activity – as well as its lifetime durability and long-term value.
  • Continue to work with state and local code bodies to promote the adoption of more stringent requirements for fire-retardant concrete and clay tile roofing to reduce the risk of multi-structure fires.
